GRANTS

Individual Grants: The First Responders Children’s Foundation provides emergency grant support for children who have endured financial stresses as a result of their first responder parents who in the line of duty have lost their lives or sustained serious injuries that prevent them from working.

Industry Grants: The partnership also offers industry grants to benefit local first responder departments that support programs, equipment needs for children and public safety education.

Individual

Awards are designated to answer a specific financial need due to tragic circumstances. Candidates are required to demonstrate and document financial need. The amount of the grant varies and depends on the current financial state of the family/candidate and on the total amount of funds available.

The applicant must be the child (biological, adopted or step-child) of a first responder that resides within one of the 23 states where CSX operates.

Each candidate must submit the following items:

Completed individual grant request application.

Documentation verifying the child or children are a descendant of a first responder (i.e. birth certificate).

Documentation from the governing agency confirming the law enforcement officer or firefighter is active duty; or confirmation from the governing agency of the line of duty death or permanent disability.

Copy of most recent tax returns.

Current documentation as to the amount of pension received in case of death or permanent disability.

Documentation of social security benefits being received by spouse and children in the case of death or permanent disability.

Candidate must submit all relevant documentation in support of the grant request including related receipts or invoices.

Decisions of the Grant Committee are final. The FRCF reserves the right to withhold grants in any category in the absence of qualified applicants. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Industry

Applicants must be officially affiliated with a first responder agency or department to be eligible for grant consideration. Grant requests should be related to educational activities and programs which benefit children within the community at large.

The applicant must be a first responder agency or department which resides within one of the 23 states where CSX operates.

Completed grant application.

Cover letter on official letterhead outlining details of the program the grant will support with specifics on how the funding will be used.

Any additional supporting materials regarding the program to be funded, who benefits from the program, and current statistics as to the success of the program.
